This blog is dedicated to the idea that a solid, well rounded, and complete English education is the most important and influential aspect of a student’s life. In today’s world it is impossible to succeed without the skills, concepts, and philosophies which are imparted through English education; thus, effective teachers of English truly are essential educators.

Michael Crichton's Latest

I have officially placed my order for Pirate Latitudes, Michael Crichton's new, and sadly, posthumously published novel. This latest Crichton work is set to hit shelves in late November/early December.

This new novel looks to be along the same lines as Crichton's The Great Train Robbery, as historical fiction, and should prove to be far less didactic than his famed "techno-thrillers" (which should excite some of the non-Crichton fans).

I, personally, am a Crichton die-hard, and cannot wait to see a "Crichtonized" pirate story. I will be first in line to pick up my reserved copy; of course, giving a full review soon thereafter. I also hope to pull a few passages to use in my British Literature class as examples of historical fiction (I will keep you posted on that as well).

Until then, rest in peace Michael...and happy reading to all of you who will be picking up your own copy of Pirate Latitudes.
